That's all I hear about. Owner/Operators mentioned the problem often in the latest Kalinowski survey. As one respondent stated, "Never thought our problem staffing the stores would be the Federal government". Another pointed out that menu and operational simplification have never been more important.
I wish I could offer some solutions but the problem will persist as long as the Feds keep handing out money in an effort to make as many Americans as possible feel dependent on the government. .
It’s pretty apparent that we need to stop discounting in an effort to afford to raise our average rates to attempt to retain employees. That is to include eliminating $1.00 drinks now!
Democrats in Congress will keep on handing out enhanced unemployment benefits because they need to buy vote for the midterm elections. It is what you are forced to do when your policy ideas are bankrupt.
This, of course, completely distorts the economy and drives unproductive behavior and massive government debt that will consume ever greater share of tax revenue to service. Good luck with funding efforts to combat wage "inequality" and promote diversity and inclusion with no money.
All the while, Democrats keep passing laws aimed at destroying franchising, which (when done properly) is the single most powerful tool to create economic opportunity for marginalized people who want to work and create wealth for their families and the people that work for them.
Other issues many employees are now working gig jobs, no direct boss, work when you want, for the most part, take breaks when you want, and as I said no one breathing down your neck. All pay about the same if not more.
I’m sure your local FO team will provide you with some irrelevant tools and plans to help staffing. And why are we paying that service fee again for no support?
