Food Militants at Work

I haven't known many vegans but have seen enough to know they are typically fussy
people who can't stop themselves from criticizing other people's food choices.

Such people won't get invited to my backyard barbecue and QSR Operators shouldn't
want them in their restaurants.

A 5-Year Quest To Put A Plant-Based Burger On The McDonald's Menu

two words- McLean Deluxe

Hope we do not make the same mistake twice just to be politically correct.

Oh, you KNOW that we're doing it. It wouldn't be Modern and Progressive if we didn't have "food" on our menu that people won't buy. It costs the pajama boys nothing to virtue signal to their SJW friends. We are paying for it.

Its coming. Just like how MCD forced OPNAD into a two and a half year commitment to fund UBEREATS advertising

Modern & Progressive

One of the “Worldwide Favorites” at MHQ headquarters restaurant has a Vegan Sausage. So it’s starting.

The pajama boys are desperate for us to add non meat burgers to the menu because they need to virtue signal to their modern and progressive friends at cocktail parties in lefty cities and suburbs and country clubs where they spend their time and where they will get their next high paying job.

Never mind that we will be left paying for, carrying and taking up space with cases of this high sodium, high calorie crap that will end up in the dumpster, adding weight, space and cost even in the dumpster. Only the pajama boys in Chicago could find a way to add cost even while throwing useless products away. That crap is HEAVYWEIGHT , adding to my tipping fees.

But, but but", pajama boys will say, " we know vegans won't ever come to us just to buy this, but regular customers with vegan friends will come because the vegan friend will finally have one thing to eat." This is all wrong, of course because:

1-Does anyone expect that someone who opposes the killing of animals for food would come to McDonald's and give them ANY money to fund more killing of animals, even if their meal has no meat? This just tells you that the pajama boys don't understand the consumer marketplace (other than that they love discounting).

2-How many car fulls of our customers that you see everyday carry at least one vegan or anyone interested in reducing meat intake or cattle ranches?

Already in full swing in Europe. Will be anonymously voted in by the field by end of the year.

Its Baaaaack!!

McDonald’s new Big Vegan burger is aimed at a new kind of eater called the flexitarian, an occasional vegetarian or vegan. First introduced to Germany on April 29, the Big Vegan is similar in size to the Quarter Pounder. Fortune writes that the burger consists of a soy and wheat patty, colored with beet juice, coral leaf lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles, and ketchup and mustard. It is a permanent menu addition for 1,500 restaurants throughout Germany, one of the company’s biggest international markets. “Although the proportion of vegans in Germany is still relatively small, with the [Big Vegan] we are specifically picking up on the far-reaching trend of occasionally abstaining from animal products,” McDonald’s Germany spokesman Philipp Wachholz said in a statement. “This lets us offer more choices, and we are also convinced that our new vegan burger will meet the taste expectations of all McDonald’s lovers.” The Big Vegan’s debut in Germany marks the first time McDonald’s has marketed an explicitly vegan burger in one of its “lead” international markets.

UH OH...…

As Impossible Foods grapples with supply shortages of its plant-based burgers, its rival Beyond Meat announced Thursday that it has the capacity to take on any restaurant chain. “I don’t see any material obstacle, and I don’t see any manufacturing obstacle to being able to, in the appropriate amount of time and the right structure, take on many of the largest QSRs out there,” CEO Ethan Brown told analysts on the company’s first earnings conference call. CNBC notes that McDonald’s has been under pressure from customers to incorporate a vegan burger to its menu after many of its fast-food counter parts have already done so. But adding a plant-based meat alternative would mean finding a supplier that could meet demand for its 14,000 U.S. locations. Reuters writes that McDonald’s executives have expressed that they are waiting to see how a plant-based meat alternative drives customer traffic, given how the added menu item would increase complexity in the kitchen, which can equate to slower service.

Hogwash ... The only pressure is coming from click-bait headlines.

I have been under NO pressure from my customers. I am in my Restaurants everyday.

The Pressure I am under, is why are you not FASTER in the Drive Thru.

More hogwash. Management believes that the only choice set for a "flexitarian" is the McDonalds on Main St or the one on Elm St. NO-FLEXITARIANS HAVE THOUSANDS OF NON-MCDONALDS OPTIONS IN THEIR CHOICE SET! They can even get prepared non-meat meals at a freaking gas station. McDonald's isn't even in their mind when they think "Gee, I'd like to eat a non-burger food."

McDonald's pops into our customers' minds when they crave a burger and fries or a shake. Not when they want falafal shaped like a patty. STOP THE MADNESS!

In communities where there is a large number Of people from the Middle East or India a non meat burger would be a welcome addition to the menu. These guests enjoy all the rest of the products we serve but do not eat meat due to their religious beliefs. They also see McDonalds as a true American icon and are excited to dine with us.

I agree with contributor above.
However I do not have such a population at any of my Restaurants. One size does not fit ALL. But we will try and make everyone Modern and Progressive. Hawaii has Spam, France has Wine and Germany has Beer. I would never be able to sell any of these in my Non Progressive, Rural, Southern Baptist communities. Of which a Meatless patty is a non starter for us.

Someone from MCD management (no doubt ) posted:"In communities where there is a large number Of people from the Middle East or India a non meat burger would be a welcome addition to the menu. These guests enjoy all the rest of the products we serve but do not eat meat due to their religious beliefs. They also see McDonalds as a true American icon and are excited to dine with us."

Evidence that a meatless "burger" is a solution in search of a problem. These fine non meat eating folks are admittedly ALREADY BUYIJNG WHAT WE ALREADY SELL and they are lovin' it. So why add products we will only sell a faction of and throw the rest away?
Oh, right: modern and progressive. How else will the Bernie Bros who want free stuff pat me on the back at the next mass protest at our restaurants? When they shut down our businesses, at least they won't be impeding sales on non meat patties at a burger restaurant famous for beef burgers.

More likely it was submitted by the PR department at Beyond Meat.
But, it could be a McDonald's corporate guy who's heavily invested
in Beyond Meat.

Let's predict the future - spring of 2000 McDonald's introduces a
fake meat sandwich. OPNAD spends millions advertising the product.
Both McDonald's and the fake meat company get great press all summer
(written by millennial writers who pretend to be vegan but aren't).

By the end of summer McDonald's USA is off advertising other products
and the average McDonald's is selling 10 fake meat sandwiches a day.

No doubt. The pajama boys (Stock price Steve and Clueless Chris) will succumb to political correctness (in spite of our history with meatless-which they weren't around to understand).
Only questions- Will it be frozen or Fresh ? Will it be held in our cabinets?

Facts and History are IGNORED by the pajama boys.
