Nigel Travis, the CEO of Dunkin’ Brands, regarding a reduced menu stated: “It really started with our franchisees being concerned about how complicated our menus are and how difficult it is to train employees, and find employees as a result”.
Fast Food Franchises Should Offer A Simple Menu

Too Bad Stock Price Steve and Clueless Chris don't see or understand this !
But based on their (lack of) operational experience, they are interested in pleasing only Wall Street, NOT CUSTOMERS
MMGA !!!
“Growth creates complexity and complexity is the silent killer of growth”
Why does everyone get it, everyone knows what to do while mgmt is living in a bubble, creating more problems? Why do I see other QSR’s doing things with technology to address complexity (AI Order Takers) while the worlds leading QSR brand rolled out kiosks that can’t even take money? Why isn’t R&D actively working on substantial labor savings through automation? Truth told it shouldn’t even be in R&D- we saw this coming 20yrs ago, heck- THEY were the ones telling us what was coming. It should be operational now.
What did they spend the last 20yrs doing? Added more stuff to do and more ways to do it AND THEN running around enforcing impossible standards in restaurants where they don’t even know how to unlock the doors anymore, much less take an order or make a hamburger.

One more thing with Kiosks why are they cartoon size!
They're about the right size. Big enough to get people's attention yet not take up a lot of floor space. And they have to be accessible to customers of all sizes.
.
Kiosk were designed based on the measure of wait. Bigger the kiosk, larger the wait. Though I do hand it to them to getting the technology launched relatively quickly. (Because they stole it from Europe).
Odd how Panera Bread can do things with an IPAD at a fraction of the cost.
Now if they can just get the new ice cream machine approved in a fraction of time - to allow improved uptimes - it would be a miracle! Oh wait, that makes us money - and not a discount engine like GMA. Not a priority.
I used a kiosk last week and noticed there was a double hamburger (2 X 10-1) available. Now I hadn't eaten a McDonald's beef sandwich without cheese in years so I ordered one. Wasn't bad.
But, if that sandwich is not listed on the menu board in the store why is it on the kiosk? The price was $1.49 so the Operator isn't making any money on it and they probably don't sell very many. Why is it even displayed for the customer?
Doesn't simplification apply to the kiosks and mobile ordering?
