Time for those with ketchup in the blood to stand up. The three legged stool is gone. Even golden state foods was bought out by Martin brower. Anyone think the execs don’t get a kickback?

As an attendee of the meeting yesterday there was a lot to consider. We all took the relationships that we had in the past with the company as a foundation for our willingness to sign our lives away with the BBV2020 letter. We counted on our partners to have our best interests at heart when working to move the needle of our business forward. Clearly times have changed, no longer do we have partners that care about our individual well being. Sad to watch videos of Fred and other pioneers of our brand that understood that strong operators make for a strong system. We are all independent business owners with a long legacy of pride and commitment to our businesses, employees, towns and families. We are not employees of CK, we are not managing partners or McOpCo supervisors, we are business owners who put everything on the line everyday for the brand we love. We are now under threat, under a mandate that no one agrees with, spending money like a drunken sailor on buildings that were just remodeled because they are not portfolio, watching our average check plummet due to giving the house away with an “AP” that was promised to be a loyalty driver and working with a new fleet of folks that don’t have a clue just a checklist.

Sadly operator leadership failed us at every turn, they didn’t take the time to review the commitment letter with an eye towards what could go wrong, they endorsed it and we trusted. We failed to do the same. We with the pressure of the regional leadership allowed for a change to our franchising agreement without the due diligence given to buying a car. We handed the devil our soul and livelihood on a silver platter. But we can’t change the past, only work for the future. One thing was clear from the meeting yesterday, there is no trust that the NLC, LAT, OPNAD or any other current leadership group will be effective in creating any change, the leadership operators sadly are not trusted by the whole.

The time is now, we must stand up for what we believe and work to find a way out of the pit that we currently reside. If you care about your business you need to be a part of this association, you need to attend the next meeting and we need to work together to “Survive BBV2020.” United we can make a difference, divided as we have been placed purposely by leadership we fail. Always remember that “We” will always be here long after any corporate leader as long as “We” stay united. “None of US is as STRONG as ALL of US!”

I feel such a group is well overdue. A prerequisite for serving in a leadership position should be 3 year hiatus from any current Operator leadership position. This would include current members of the NLC, OPNAD, RLC Chair, Diversity Groups, Supply Chain and most definitely the LAT. I'm not suggesting that all current members these groups are complicit, but this would tear down the fiefdoms that have been created by many.

One (1) email generated a response from 400 operators to come to the meeting. Operators from all over the country flew through a hurricane to get to Tampa. No one wants to hurt MCD. This was a meeting about survival. Operator leadership has failed the operators and the MCD system. MCD corporate leadership has taken the position that if you can't afford to do these expensive reinvestments then sell out. Many stores are low volume because of outrageous mistakes in real estate site selection by the regions. Chris K. attitude has been cavalear and harsh. He will destroy the USA business. He is impressed with himself and his education pedigree regardless of having no experience with this business. This meeting was necessary. This not just a few operators that are pissed off. A lot of thought went into it. The response and emotions were even a surprise to us. MCD has a big opportunity here to get the system back on track. the first step, in my opinion, would be to tear up the BBV contracts. 2nd, listen to the people who have their money and sweat in the business.

I didn't receive the email, who did it come from? i am excited by this, it's about time. I will attend next meeting if I can, before Chris K runs this company into the ground. There might be no chance with these people running the company!

My understanding is THE LEAD GROUP talked with each co-op president and asked that they inform their team

My president did NOT call or email me about the meeting

So it seems he did not want to pass this on. That is our leader. Evidently I cannot trust him

So where do we go to get the truth.

I will be at the meeting on December 12th. We should set a goal of 1,000. Little bit of a streach but MCD likes streach
goals, what better way to unite than get 1,000 of us on the same page

RAY KROC said “NONE OF US IS AS GOOD AS ALL OF US”. said this before Cris K was even born

Listen to this podcast, especially the second half. Eerie parallels with the MCD system. https://www.restaurantbusinessonline.com/financing/why-franchisor-franchisee-disputes-are-more-common-right-now

We should attend the Legal Symposium being held in Chicago on Oct 24-25 by the Coalition of Franchisee Associations. Learn the best practices to set up a most effective association and how to protect members from retaliation by Chris K. I'm trying to register. Their members defeated bad management and mindless discounting (see BK, Dunkin and Subway).

I've worked with and studied organizations like the Coalition of Franchisees Assoc., The American Franchisee and Dealers Association, and the American Franchisee Association over the years.

These are umbrella organizations that bring together existing franchisee associations and also help franchisees form their own associations. It's a good idea, but it's mostly for franchisees from smaller chains who don't have the resources and maturity of the McDonald's Operator community.

Given the momentum displayed this week it would not be helpful for McDonald's Operators to get distracted by looking to such groups for assistance or guidance.

You can't blame these umbrella organizations For wanting McDonald's Operators. The brand name alone would help them attract smaller franchisees and of course they'll always enjoy your resources ($).

So maybe someplace down the road but for now keep this focused on McDonald's Operators and not on attending meetings with haircut and muffler franchisees.
