Which fast food chain is really the best?
Chipotle has been credited with reinventing restaurants and eroding into
McDonald's market share. But it turns out McDonald's actually has many
advantages over the Mexican food chain. We calculated how the brands
measure up when it comes to cost, locations, and more.

Is that average unit volume of Chipotle is 10.5M? C'mon.
That's not average volume but the publication's estimate of the "value of each location". I assume they divided the market cap of the company by the number of locations. That calculation would have little to do with the average unit volume or the resale of the individual business.
Same thing I would sell today if I could get an average sale price of $2.9mil.
Feel free to check my decimals here - MCD market cap divided by 36,000 stores is only $2.6 million per store but if you divide the enterprise value (resale value) of the entire McDonald's system, which as of today is over $107 Billion, it comes to $2.97 million per store.
