Where Are They Now? - Ed Rensi Out at Famous Dave's

"While franchisees liked some of the changes, some balked at extensive and expensive remodelings, Smith said.
“I think Ed angered franchisees by coming in and telling them it’s my way or the highway,” he said. “Franchisees don’t like to be told how to run their business and dictated [to] on how much money to spend.”

It is likely that there is no other group of operators that would take the abuse that MCD operators have taken over the years thinking they were making a long term positive contribution to the system and completely trusting the motives of leadership. I like seeing Rensi getting his ass handed to him. Who does he think he is anyway telling those operators to take on all that debt with no assurance of an ROI when they are doing very well without it. I'm not saying that smart reinvestment is not good or necessary. Many times it is but the heavy handed blanket approach to it is ill conceived. "Tip of the Hat" to Famous Dave's operators!!

Sounds vaguely familiar, push expensive store remodels without explaining the details or costs, threaten the franchisee community with a "my way or the highway" mentality. How can this possibly not work for them???

Dont worry ED, McDonalds will hire you back and add you to the mix of fired/hired retreads like Easterbrook, King, and Andres.
