ChiTrib on McOpCo Pay Raise

"But it was served up with the potential for backlash — notably from its franchisees that
operate about 90 percent of McDonald's restaurants in the U.S.

Essentially, the world's largest restaurant operator has pitted its own stores' pay scale

against those of its franchisees and other fast-food chains, as well as against other service-
sector companies such as Target and Wal-Mart."

Simply put, McDonald's has put it s own interests above the operators, has destroyed the partnership between us, and declared war on its franchisees

Too much too soon. Esterbrook and others should wait until they are announcing resurging sales and internal harmony before trying to appease special interests. Fix the crumbling organization and fix the food, first.

The NLC rep for the Raleigh Region has just been awarded (rewarded) five McopCo stores for playing ball and towing the McD company line. (selling out his fellow operators).

This (McopCo wage hike) is simply the latest proof that we have been sold out by the NLC and abandoned by the Corp. Let me explain.
Remember when Corp forced the Super Bowl "Pay with Lovin" fiasco down our throats with little warning (7days) and NO FIELD VOTE for operator approval?? It was like a thief in the night, we HAD to do it. No input allowed. No Warning. No Vote.
Then we have the McOpCo wage increase, once again, like a thief in the night, forced upon us with NO WARNING and NO OPPORTUNITY FOR INPUT. (anyone who believes the "leak" story or Andres' mea culpa, is delusional and I will sell you my store for 150 times cash flow!)
Add to that ,in spite of the fact that we operate 90% of the stores , we have NO REPRESENTATION on the Board of Directors, not even in a non voting capacity. Contrast that to the current board which consists of representatives for Stockholders, Corp Management, and even Suppliers !!! The three legged stool is missing a leg, and it's ours. Ray must be turning over in his grave.

The lack of a Voice has been coming for a long time. We have had 3 US presidents in the Last 4.5 years. Each time we lost more on our side of the stool. The NLC has not given us a seat at the table since Reggie Webb was President. He was not afraid to pull the operators collectively back from an issue we disagreed on. The McD. Leadership was ready to listen and move together.

I am not sure what measure McD & The NLC is using but I am not better off with either of their Leadership. We got a Grading process that is broken, Store of the future is a waste of money, Kitchens are way to complex and McCafe is a boondoggle that has not pan out. What has the NLC said "NO" too, Nothing?

I am starting to think we need an Association to represent our interests. Because these folks at NLC and OpNad sure are not. Many have been in power for ever, they move from one elected position to another.

Like I said coming out of The Summit, I thought they would have been more outrage. Nope we just continue doing the same old thing, waiting for something to change. Nothing will change unless we make it happen. With this set of leaders both McD and NLC we are going to sink lower into the swamp.

Corp has cut their overhead way back, and instead of using some of it to help the O/O cash flow, they are demanding that WE had more staff in our stores, as well as the MRP's and future store costs that are coming. There is no store, it's them,& some sell out O/O's who are looking for more growth.

We need a operators association that represents us. The NLC clearly does not
