This is just like McCafe, the decision has already been made, the train has left the station. Build a burger is really meant to buy Corp 3-4 years of stock market peace , while we "implement" a "new" strategy that is ultimately destined to be a FAILURE. But it will keep the stock up for 3-5 years, insuring a rich retirement for top McD execs
Rumor: Regions on a conference call this morning were advised that 150 people were fired in Oak Brook today. Next wave of cuts will be in the regions beginning third week of January. Lots of nervous people.
Thanks for defining that as a rumor. If true it's a good start.
The people that are terminated at all levels will end up with our competitors to kick butt against McDonald's. McDonald's is or will become the follower in this business. Every program that Oakbrook has come up with has been done before and continues to be a failure. It is time for McDonald's to define the market as in the past instead of the focus groups defining it for the lazy management. McDonald's has created nothing more than a Ford Edsel.
While at the same time the company is opening a new office in the near north side of Chicago to be staffed with 200 to 250 "digital employees".

MCD has lost its identity and leadership is weak. There no more Cantilupo's or Charlie Bell's to throw into the breach to turn things around. A good start would be to copy what Jim did several years ago and wring out a lot of costs and put the employee's back to work after getting rid of the dead weight. Let the operators "out scream" the competition with better advertising and local store marketing. Reengage the system. I went to a big annual RMHC fund raiser Saturday night and there was not one person there from the Regional office. There are operators that haven't been to a co-op meeting in a year. Relationships need to be rebuilt. Get Wall Street out of the corporate offices and bring the customers and operators back in. A really great business and system is dying on the vine.
