Its a great thing to have customers spend their money at McDonald's instead of going elsewhere, and dollar menu will do just that.....I agree. However, increasing guest counts trading down to a buck does not increase cash at the bank. You cannot bring your GC's to the bank...and that's the simple fact.
I would rather have 500,000 profitable TCs than 600,000 Unprofitable ones. Oak Brook needs to wake up . A lot of Operators will be going belly up in 2013
I am so sick of this.... Corp keeps pushing excessive discounting down our throats while they cut the services we PAY for. Im being pressured to adopt RDM, yet my region has cut or eliminated the majority of training classes.If you complain you are labeled a troublemaker!We are NOT getting what we pay for! My arrogant field consultant even told me recently he never even looks at my P&Ls. Some great partnership, No???
The system is broken and, unless changes are made, will die within five years. Corp employees too interested in getting the next job, instead of getting the Job done. Kroc would be ashamed.

Giving away all these Big Macs and QPCs is an ad guy see - ad guy do reaction to Burger King's 55¢ Whopper offer. How creative!
What ad people wouldn't understand is that McDonald's and Burger King are in many ways in different businesses. Burger King is owned by investment groups who are eager to spike sales (and the price of their shares) so they can take some or all of their money out of the company. They'll do anything and give away everything to get that done.
We often criticize public companies as being too interested in the short term but these BKW investors really are as illustrated by the share ownership numbers.
Burger King (BKW) is 82% owned by Insiders and 3% owned by Institutions.
McDonald's (MCD) is .07% owned by Insiders and 66% owned by institutions.

So if you low on debt and your stores configuration are positive + interesting SELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Ex european O/O) it's no different in europe but Units avg. sales are signifcantly higher then in the US

We can't take desperately gained sales increases to the bank either if we gave away product to get those sales increases.
